Twinwall Ducting
What is Twinwall Ducting?Twinwall ducting is a very safe and reliable product designed to protect vital services underground from damage by a variety of potential problems, including animal interference, subsidence, human error and extreme weather such as flooding which is why we have them stocked within our range of ducting pipes and accessories. While most regular types of ducting used in construction such as 50mm ducting have only one outer wall, twinwall ducting has two walls for extra protection and that have two different purposes. The outer wall is corrugated to increase its strength, because the plastic flutes are better able to resist pressure from any direction, which is important when it is surrounded by the intense weight of the earth on top. The inner wall is smooth and heat welded to the outer wall, which allows the services that the twin wall ducting protects to pass through the inside without catching or snagging which could damage the ducting and hold up progress. What Twinwall Ducting Products Are Available? At the Drainage Shop we stock a range of sizes of twinwall ducting to ensure that you always have what you need for your job, and while there are two lengths (50m and 25m), we have a variety of diameters ranging from 50mm ducting all the way to 160mm depending on the size of the services you’re trying to protect. Alongside the twinwall ducting itself we also have a range of accessories to help make your installation easier, such as coupling, spacers and bends. Twinwall duct coupling can be used to group several twinwall duct straight lengths together to help create the length of ducting that you need, increase their safety and tidy them away, spacers can help keep your twinwall ducting apart to avoid damage and to make your installation neater, while bends allow you to add coupling to your installation while also going around corners. What Do The Different Colours Of Twinwall Ducting Mean?Being able to tell from a distance and at a glance what is inside ducting can be a lifesaver on a construction site, and it’s the law that different types of services have to be identified, which is why we supply twin wall ducting in a range of colours to meet all of your needs including red electric ducting and blue water pipe ducting. Electricity cables need to be identified by black twinwall ducting, pipes carrying water need to be identified by blue twinwall ducting, pipes carrying gas need to be identified by yellow twinwall ducting, data cables need to be identified using green twin wall ducting, while purple and orange twin wall ducting are used to carry traffic signal services. Is Twinwall Ducting Safe?Twinwall ducting is extremely tough and durable, made from high quality plastic to ensure that it is not only strong and crush resistant but also resistant to rot, mould and degradation. Through a combination of its corrugated shape that lends natural strength to the ducting, and the heat welded construction, this twin wall ducting is perfectly designed to resist damage in all situations. Alongside these strengths, twinwall ducting is easy to transport and store for exceptional flexibility, and can be cut to size and fitted easily and with the minimum of labour, so it’s a cost effective choice as well. In addition, the overall efficency of these products can only be increased if paired alongside a duct access chamber. |
